a small slow -- ktvu learned today hah the school owed $83,000 in back rent. school officials now say the issue has been resolved. plans have been removed and students are being notified art about the reopening. bart has settled a civil rights offering followed by five friends who were held after the shooting not 200. the attorney confirmed bart will pay $175,000 to the five men. they were detained following the deadly shooting on new year's day in 2009 by former bart police officer. the suit claimed the men were held without just cause. fire investigators are trying to track down the vandal that seemed to be targeting one specific family. the latest damage includes two vehicles set on fire this morning. ktuv spoke with the family about why they think they are being targeted. the security camera video shows two people wearing hoodies checking out the cars in

not too concerned about vandalism throughout the street or the neighborhood. >> this is heartbreaking, and i hope they catch the guy that did this. >>reporter: fire officials would not confirm the speculation about retaliation, but did say the investigation is progressing quickenly and that suspects could be identified soon. in san jose, ktvu, channel 2 news. the golden state warriors formerly announce their new head coach in oakland today. he's been a player, jeb manager, and broadcaster, without this -- but this will be the first time he'll be a head coach. >> i'm well aware that i haven't done it, and i'm going to have a lot to learn. and i'm planning on putting in the work to learn as much as i can and to put the people around me to help me be as good az i can. >> he plans to hire someone with head coaching experience to help him. he also said that the warrior's recent success was one reason he wanted the job. his hiring came about a week after the team fired mark jackson.

wife. the body was found in the hallway of their los angeles home and police recovered a hand gun believed to belong to her husband. the couple were married for almost a decade. booked into los angeles jail with bail. bail is set at $1 million. a retired player for the san francisco former niners is one of eight claiming the league illegally supplied them with painkillers that numbed their injuries n. this lawsuit filed today, the former niners jeremy newbury describes lining up in the locker room to receive antiinflammatory injections to -- just before kick-off. the drugs permitted them to play and made their injuries worse and caused longterm health problems. the spokesperson for the nfl says the league had no comment of the lawsuit. people at shop at one east bacon signment store say they are furious that the store shut down with their items and store credit. brentwood closed abruptly on sunday. the shut-down was announced on the facebook page.

outfitters all at disappointing earnings and investors dumped their stock. wal-mart is expanding here in the bay area and plans to hire hundreds of tech workers in the south bay. wal-mart has struck a deal to lease more than 100,000 square feet of new office space. it will be used to expand digital operations. currently, wal-mart has some 550 moes providing online services. it's no surprise for anybody looking for a home that it takes a big chunk of your paycheck to avoid real estate in the bay area. a new survey finds it takes more than $137,000 in annual salary to afford aped yan- priced home in the bay area. one homeowner we shopped with say she made offers on four houses all over the asking price only to be outbid. >> if we didn't have some equity in our home there, it might be hard to come up with a down payment, and i'm sure it's hard for many families. >> some realtors say suspective buyers where having to offer 10 to 20% above the asking price to be competitive.

the ongoing drought could have a big impact in livermore. agencies are expected to draw more water than usual. if the water gets too low that beach access and activities such as swimming, firing, and boating could be cut short. they say if the lake gets really low, the park won't have water for drinking or bathrooms and that campgrounds will also have to close. tracking a few showers. a southerly track over california. first, i want to show you this satellite view because it helps to depict where the center of this center is and the circulation that moves around it. it say counter clockwise spin. we are on the backside. as i put the radar into motion, you can almost see how it begins this direction and moves into the bay area. so our east bay hills, definitely the best area where we are going to see these scattered showers into the evening hours. i am picking up a little bit

here along 580 east of livermore between livermorx tracy and most of this again over our east bay hill. i want to go up the hill. we are seeing some snow that is falling all day long. so much so that the national weather service has decided to issue a winter weather advisory. it goes until 9:00 for the west slope anywhere from one to three to maybe five inches of wet snow expected before this is all said and done. as we get into the evening hours, it's going to be tapering off. if it stop -- if i stop it in the middle of the night, i am picking up just a little bit of moisture here, but by tomorrow morning we're going to be pretty much finished. in its wake, we are going to have a warm-up that begins tomorrow afternoon. temperatures right now under breezy conditions. sixty-two in oakland. fifty-eight in san francisco. seventy-two in santa rosa. temperatures are rather mild today a lot like yesterday. as we go into tomorrow morning, it's going to be a cool start in santa rosa. forty-nine expected for you. low 50s. partly cloudy skies. fifty-five in oakland and

more than 800 children gathered for spring cleaning. students took part in the 21s annual kid's ocean day adopt a beach clean-up. they picked up piles of trash. the student said information aside. you see here, they formed the words only one beach. organizers say their message is the trash you leave behind is affecting wildlife all around us.
